Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
QuitSub ("QuitSub", "we", "us") provides a tool that helps you find recurring subscriptions in your own bank or card statement and shows you how to cancel them. You can reach us at support@quitsub.com.
2. Your financial data — what we do NOT collect
When you use the scan, you download a statement from your bank (a CSV or PDF file, or screenshots or photos of your transactions) and open it in QuitSub. That file is processed entirely in your browser, on your own device. It is not uploaded, transmitted, or stored on our servers — we have no server that holds your transactions, and we could not read your statement even if asked. So that a page refresh doesn't wipe your results, your most recent scan is saved in your browser's local storage on your own device; it never leaves your device, and you can erase it any time with "Clear everything on this device."
We never ask for your bank login and never connect to your bank. There is no "link your account" step, by design.
3. What is stored on your device (not on our servers)
To remember your progress, QuitSub saves a small amount of data in your browser's local storage, on your device only: your decisions for each subscription (cut / keep / trim / notes), a short scan history (dates, subscription names, and amounts), your most recent scan (so refreshing the page restores it instead of making you re-upload), a theme preference, and which scans you've unlocked. Our step counter also keeps a single yes/no note that this device has visited before, so it can tell first visits from repeat ones. If you scan a screenshot or photo, the picture reader also keeps its English language file in your browser's storage so it doesn't download again; that file is part of the reader and contains none of your data. This never leaves your device, and you can erase all of it at any time using the "Clear everything on this device" option in the app.
4. What we do collect, and why
- Payments. If you buy a scan or Concierge, payment is processed by Stripe. Stripe collects and handles your payment details; we do not see or store your full card number. We receive confirmation of the purchase and your email for the receipt. If your scan comes with friend codes, Stripe records which purchase each code came from and whether it has been used, so the same purchase always gets the same codes back. A code tells the friend who uses it nothing about you, and nothing about your scan.
- Support messages. If you email us, we keep that correspondence so we can help you and follow up.
- Email reminders (only if you opt in). If you choose to give us your email, we use it only to send you a yearly reminder to re-scan your statement (plus a one-time welcome when you sign up), nothing else. We never email you your results: your scan runs on your own device and we never receive it, so we have nothing to send. Email delivery is handled by our email provider, MailerLite; you can unsubscribe at any time. Giving us your email does not give us your bank data, which is still never uploaded or collected.
- Route reports. If you use "report a problem / send it in," we receive the vendor name, the cancel link, the note you wrote, and your device type. We use this to add and fix cancellation routes. It contains no bank data.
- Analytics. We run our own first-party, anonymous step counter. It records the name of a step (a page opened, a button pressed, a scan run, a purchase) with a few plain labels: phone or computer; which kind of link started the visit (for example a Google ad and the ad's keyword, a search engine, an email, a friend's link, another website, or none); whether this device has visited before; which page the visit started on; how long a page stayed open (10, 30 or 60 seconds); which button was pressed; which sections of the homepage were scrolled into view; the kind of file picked for a scan (spreadsheet, PDF or picture, never the file itself); and which cancel guide was opened (the company's name only, e.g. "netflix"). These are kept as aggregate tallies on our own server. This counter sets no cookies, keeps no personal identifiers or profiles, and doesn't use any outside analytics service — and it never touches your statement or financial data: nothing a scan found, no amounts, no merchant names. Google's tag, described next, is separate.
- Advertising & analytics measurement. We use Google's tag (gtag) for Google Ads conversion measurement and Google Analytics: it records standard events like page views, clicks through to checkout, and purchases so we can tell whether an ad led to a visit and how the site is used, and it may set cookies for that purpose. This is ordinary web-analytics data — it never includes your bank statement or financial data, which never leave your device.
5. Cookies
Essential functionality (your theme, your unlock, your progress) uses your browser's local storage on your device, not tracking cookies sent to us. Our own analytics are cookieless. Google's advertising tag may set cookies as described above; you can control or block cookies in your browser settings.
6. How we share data
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers that make QuitSub work — such as Stripe (payments), MailerLite (email reminders, if you opt in), Cloudflare (hosting), and Google (ads measurement) — and only as needed for those purposes, or if required by law.
6b. Asking about Concierge
The app and the scan never require an account, and your bank data is never involved in either. Concierge has no scheduler and no deposit: you email us what you're up against, and we keep that correspondence as described in §4. If you agree to a written quote, payment is handled by Stripe as described in §4. Concierge never needs your bank login or your statement, which stay on your device as described above.
7. Your choices and rights
You can erase everything QuitSub stored on your device at any time (the "Clear everything on this device" button). You can ask us to delete your support correspondence by emailing support@quitsub.com. Depending on where you live (e.g., the EU/UK or California), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold, and to opt out of certain processing — contact us to exercise them.
8. Data retention
On-device data lives on your device until you clear it. Payment records are retained by Stripe and by us as needed for accounting and legal obligations. Support emails and route reports are kept only as long as useful for support and improving the service.
9. Children
QuitSub is intended for adults (18+) managing their own finances and is not directed to children.
10. Security
Because your financial data is processed on your own device and never sent to us, the most sensitive information never sits on a server we could lose. For the limited data we do handle (payments, support, reports), we rely on reputable providers with industry-standard security.
11. Changes
We may update this policy; we'll change the "last updated" date above and, for material changes, note it on the site.
